After a three-year hiatus, student loan payments are set to resume this month.
Millions of working people of all ages are now thrust into the crushing decision of paying back these insurmountable debts or paying for their utilities, groceries, rent, and more.
Student loan debt should not exist, John. But as long as it does, we must continue to show up for the people and work to provide crucial student debt relief to those who need it most.
Roughly 28 million borrowers owe roughly more that $1 trillion in student loans, and this return of monthly payments is sure to hurt Americans who are already struggling to make ends meet.
In June, Pramila introduced the College for All Act to address the root cause of the student debt crisis by eliminating tuition and fees for most families at a four year college while making community colleges free. Pramila, and many progressive leaders recognize the necessity of higher education to pursue economic freedom, and our work cannot stop here.
