Yesterday, I voted to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker.

His exit is a first in our nation’s history and a resounding affirmation of the Republican party’s dysfunction. Earlier this year, this same party elected McCarthy as Speaker of the House a historic five days and 15 votes later.

Since they retook the majority, they confirmed what Democrats have been saying all along: the Republican party is not fit to govern, and the American people are paying the price.

Our path forward has never been clearer. We must take back the House majority and get Congress back to working for us. As the chair of BOLD PAC, I’m working to elect progressives across the country next year.
