Rep. Kevin McCarthy is no longer Speaker of the House.

This is the first time in our nation’s history that a speaker has been voted out of the position — which says something about how successful McCarthy was at alienating his colleagues in the House of Representatives, both Democrats and Republicans alike.

Meanwhile, there are real problems that Congress should be doing something about.

Just a few examples:

Our country is on track to hit another artificial government budget crisis in just a little bit more than a month.

Childhood poverty doubled over the last year because Congress let key programs expire.

June 2023 was the hottest June ever recorded. July 2023 was the hottest July ever recorded. August 2023 was the hottest August ever recorded. September 2023 was the hottest September ever recorded.
