Dear John,
Since I wrote to you Friday, we've had some interesting developments in the campaign I wanted to share with you:
1) We're now 4 weeks and 6 days away from Election Day, early voting is well underway and I'm excited to report to you that based on our data and modeling, we believe more of our voters have already cast ballots than their voters. We expect mail-in ballots to sharply break for us, as they did in 2021, and only a fraction of outstanding mail-in ballots have been returned so far, so the more those ballots arrive, the more we expect to see our lead grow while we also work to win early in-person voting, which the other side is actually prioritizing this year. If you want to help us turn out our voters, please reply to this email and I'll put you in touch with my field team!
2) Saturday night was a huge hit, with a packed house for our last Manassas fundraiser of the campaign! Thank you so much to everyone who attended, including my Democratic General Assembly colleagues Del. Eileen Filler-Corn and Sens. Jeremy McPike and Ghazala Hashmi. We crushed our fundraising goal -- well into the five digits -- which is helping us keep our new TV ad up. However...
3) The Governor recently received $4 million in donations from out-of-state Republican billionaires, all while their side complains about our campaign's nationwide people power, despite my in-district donors exceeding the Republican nominee's total donors from all of his sources combined this entire campaign. (One Republican called me "arrogant" for asserting that fact at our debate Thursday. The party of Donald J. "Indictment" Trump accusing anyone of arrogance is truly, in a word, rich.) Likewise, the Governor is dumping that money into seven state Senate races, including this one, so we've put together some counter-programming:
4) We're now hosting one last Prince William County fundraiser October 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Water's End Brewery in Lake Ridge -- the (second) site where I declared victory on November 7, 2017, footage from which ended up in news coverage around the world. We need to pack the house and raise a ton of money to keep up with the Governor, so please donate -- whether or not you can make it.
