The big day is almost here! This Tuesday is Super Tuesday, meaning that California will join many other states in determining who the presidential nominee is for the Democratic party. If you have already voted by mail—thank you! If not, there is still time!
If you want to vote in Democratic primary, the best thing you can do is register to vote as a Democrat. If you have already received your ballot but don’t know if it is for the Democratic party, you can simply check to see if you can vote for Bernie Sanders for the nominee. If his name is not on there, you don’t have a Democratic ballot. You can also go to voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/, or call 1-800-345-VOTE (8683).
If you already have a Democratic Ballot, then you can fill it out and mail it as late as Super Tuesday. There should be directions on the ballot.
If you do not already have a Democratic ballot, but are registered Democrat, you can
If you are not a registered Democrat, but still want to vote in the Democratic primary,
then you still have a few options. The one we recommend is doing same-day voter
registration as a Democrat and requesting a provisional ballot. You should be able to do that at any polling place, which you find at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place/. Another option is, if you are registered as a Non-Party Preference, you can request a Democratic ballot at your local polling place so you can vote in the primary. We do not recommend this method, though, as it is less straight-forward.
