In 2020, I ran for Congress in New York’s First Congressional District (NY-01), and our campaign countered the GOP’s divisive and hateful agenda by centering science, facts, and common sense. Based on the needs of our community and our chances to flip this seat from red to blue, I’ve decided to run again because I know we can win in 2024. When elected, I’ll be the ONLY female Ph.D. Chemist serving in the House, and today, I'm asking for the chance to earn your support because I’m all in. I do, however, understand if you don’t want these updates. You can unsubscribe anytime.

John, my name is Nancy Goroff. I’m a mother, educator, and Ph.D. Chemist in Suffolk County – and today, I am launching my campaign for Congress in New York's 1st, a true swing district.
You might remember that in 2020, I took on former Rep. Lee Zeldin, a climate-denying Trump sycophant.
A lot has changed since then: the overturning of Roe v. Wade, attacks on the LGBTQ+ community reaching a fever pitch, the official declaration of the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency, and the departure of both Trump and Zeldin from public office.
I don’t need to tell you that the House is on fire, but the House holds significant sway over the nation's budget and allocation of resources – the fact is that attacks on our democracy have not slowed, and with Trump eyeing another run for the White House, we know that democracy hinges on seats like NY-01. We need leaders in Congress who believe in working hard and using facts, science, and common sense to solve problems for people in the district and across the country. In a rapidly evolving world, our leaders must embrace these principles.
Flipping NY-01 will help Democrats take back the House in 2024, and give people throughout Suffolk County an ally in Congress. As a leader, scientist, and advocate, here's why I'm running again and why I'm asking you to be one of the first people to support my 2024 campaign: -
Our schools -- and Long Island children -- are being used as political pawns to advance a divisive and hateful agenda that stifles their growth and lives. Since November 2020, I turned my focus back to mentoring and supporting our children and teens through my involvement in the Long Island Strong Schools Alliance (LISSA).
-
Long Island and Suffolk County are facing a clean water crisis, as more extreme weather comes with flooding that can overwhelm stormwater infrastructure, nitrogen pollution causes harmful algae blooms, and rising sea levels and coastal erosion threaten our way of life and the delicate ecosystem of our tidal wetlands.
-
Small business and innovation are the engines of our economy, but right now, the high cost of living and soaring healthcare costs are preventing entrepreneurial endeavors that will provide good-paying jobs throughout our communities. We need an economy that works for all of us, not just a few.
-
My new opponent is a weak incumbent. He's one of the most at-risk Republicans in the House, according to
AP News. Since my last run, New York’s congressional districts were redrawn. Under these new lines, President Biden won my district by 0.2 points -- making NY-01 a true swing district.

So, as I launch my campaign for Congress in NY-01, I am personally asking you to help me demonstrate the incredible strength of our movement and send a powerful message about the change we're determined to bring to Long Island and across the country.
Will you contribute $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 or any amount to help us elevate our platform and start building connections with the voters we need to win? Here's the link to show you are with me: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/goroff-for-congress
