Fall is in the air. Temperatures are dropping for some, providing relief after brutal record-breaking highs this summer. EDF members and activists across the U.S. shared how climate change has impacted them more than ever — from deadly wildfires to withering heat waves to devastating floods.
In Phoenix, Arizona, unfortunately, the blistering heat doesn’t end on the first day of fall like it does for others. This year, residents have experienced more than 50 days at 110+ degrees, leading to over 200 heat-related deaths. Colette A. from AZ shares her story:

This year, the Arizona Burn Center is full of people with contact burns [from touching pavement or other hot surfaces outside]. … We have ''excessive heat warnings'' nearly every day. … Plastic on my patio melted. I do not go outside. You actually can cook on sun-heated materials outdoors. … Our current monsoons are intermittent and infrequent rainstorms. We're running out of water. … Worst of all, it will be much worse next year.

EDF’s Fall Membership Month is a chance for you to step up your support and combat the climate crisis by activating your membership — good for the rest of 2023 and all of 2024. And if you start a monthly gift, you’ll unlock a 12-month $1-for-$1 match, doubling your impact for the next year.
To fight climate change and reduce warming now, we need everyone to chip in and do their part. Eco Partner monthly donors provide the funding we need to put long-term plans into action and react quickly in a crisis.
Your critical monthly support will drive progress towards a cleaner, healthier and safer future as we work to:
- Stabilize our climate by slashing climate pollution, accelerating our transition to electric vehicles and modernizing our electric grid to make it cleaner and more reliable;
- Strengthen the ability of people and nature to thrive by protecting wildlife and valuable ecosystems — like forests, wetlands, and barrier islands — that can buffer damage from climate threats; and
- Protect our health and ensure the air we breathe, water we drink and food we eat are as safe as possible.
To hit these ambitious goals, we need steady, reliable funding. That’s where monthly donors come in. EDF’s Eco Partners supply the lifeblood of our work. Start a monthly gift and become an Eco Partner today.
Thank you in advance,
Emily Stevenson
