Dear Friend,
Across America, from classrooms and schools to public libraries, books are being challenged by far-right MAGA extremists who want to ban them.
Make a pledge to protect books and say NO to book bans, and we’ll send you a free READ BANNED BOOKS bookmark & a colorful sticker! (This way you can also show your support of books — and help build a movement against censorship — by putting a fun sticker on your water bottle, computer, notebook, or other!)
What books are being pulled? Plain and simple, books about diverse communities, history, and LGBTQ+ families and communities. These coordinated attacks are NOT okay. Well-funded far-right politicians are becoming a censorship machine actively working to ban age-appropriate books, erase honest and accurate American history, and attack students and teachers simply for who they love.
This is not freedom. Books have the power to transport us, transform us, build empathy, avoid mistakes of the past, and teach us to be and do things beyond our wildest imagination. [1,2] No person or group has the right to take that away from our children.
Make a pledge to protect books and say NO to book bans, and we’ll send you a free READ BANNED BOOKS bookmark & a colorful sticker! (In good news: This lets you subtly show your support of books — and help build a movement against censorship — by putting a fun sticker on your water bottle, computer, notebook, or other)!
The majority of parents want the freedom to make decisions for their children and do not support book bans. In fact, libraries are most often considered to be spaces that are safe for families, and especially, children. [3] However, libraries across the nation have seen over 1,900 titles challenged since the start of the year. [4] Censoring libraries only strips parents of their right to decide which books are appropriate for their children. We must protect books and preserve our freedom to choose.
Show your support for libraries and access to books — and get your free BANNED BOOKS bookmark & a colorful sticker! With your sticker you can show your support of books — and help build a movement against censorship — in a fun way by putting the sticker on your water bottle, computer, notebook, or other.
The more of us who pledge to stand for books and against bans, who use and share stickers that we're not for banning books, the more powerful we are together. So please share this link with friends and family — and on your social media.
Thank you so much for all you do - together we are powerful and together we will WIN!
