Super Tuesday is a great time to have your voice heard. We have included helpful links to help you vote! Also, please reaffirm your AYD membership by Wednesday to prepare for the VAYD convention!
Arlington Young Dems

Hey John -

Super Tuesday is this March 3, 2020 and we want everyone's voices heard in this election.  In addition we need all AYD members to reaffirm their membership for the VAYD convention to ensure that the Arlington Young Democrats are represented fully during the convention! Please check out all the cool events we have planned, the information about voting in VA, and so much more!

Final Reminder to Reaffirm Membership

This is a reminder that at the end of March is the annual Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD) Convention and every year, as part of the Convention, all chapters are required to recharter with the Virginia Young Democrats. Chartering with VAYD grants clubs and members numerous privileges throughout the year, including discounted Young Dem rates to events and fun opportunities!

To ensure AYD is fully represented at the convention, we are asking all Arlington Young Democrats to reaffirm their membership information at the link below. Remember, you don’t need an Arlington address to be a member- we accept membership if you live, work, OR play here. In order for us to complete our recharter, members must reaffirm their membership by 11:59 PM ET this Wednesday, March 4. Thank you very much to those who have already done so and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Upcoming AYD Events

AYD encourages you to vote in the Democratic Primary on Super Tuesday!

Voting in the primary is an excellent way to have your voice be heard as the Democrats select their presidential nominee for November. The AYDs want to help you as much as possible by providing useful resources to help you on Election Day! Polling hours throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia are from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. As long as you are in line at your polling place by 7:00 p.m., then you should be able to vote.

Virginia requires all voters to have a Government Issued ID in order to cast a ballot. Below are some forms of acceptable identification to vote. For more information on IDs and how to get a Voter ID (even on Election Day) click here.

  • Virginia driver’s license
  • Virginia DMV-issued photo ID
  • United States passport
  • Employer-issued photo ID
  • Student photo ID issued by a school, college, or university located in Virginia
  • Other U.S. or Virginia government-issued photo ID
  • Tribal enrollment or other tribal photo ID
  • Virginia Voter Photo ID card

If you need to check on your registration, determine your precinct, and find out polling place, visit the VA Board of Election's Voter Information.

If you have further questions, visit Virginia Board of Elections FAQs.

If you or someone you know is having difficulty at the polls the Virginia Democrats have a Voter Protection Hotline (844)4VA-VOTE or (844)482-8683. You can see more information about voting at vademocrats.org/vote/

After you visit the polls, come out for the Super Tuesday Watch Party at William Jeffery's Tavern (2301 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA) from 7 pm to 10 pm. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

AYD & ARLDems Pheonix Bikes Event

Join AYD and Arlington Dems in lending Phoenix Bikes a hand!

On Saturday, March 7th, from 10 am -1 pm, AYD and Arlington Dems will volunteer with Phoenix Bikes. We’ll first meet at Phoenix Bikes (909 S. Dinwiddie St, Arlington, VA) and start with a quick orientation and rundown of activities. Afterwards, we will head over to Clarendon/Lyon Village to canvas for bike donations. Around 1 pm we will finish up and head out for some lunch!

About Phoenix Bikes: Phoenix Bikes is a small business in South Arlington with strong ties to their community. Their programs teach teens a trade and provide them with transportation, which is nothing short of inspirational. Participants in their youth program not only learn to refurbish and rebuild a bike to give to someone else, but also receive one in return.
