Dear John,

In January, I expressed my concern that Kevin McCarthy could not be trusted to lead the House in the fight against the Biden-Schumer agenda. Too often in years past, he had been part of the Republican leadership that relied mostly on Democrat votes to pass massive spending bills and plunge us further into debt.

Ultimately, Speaker McCarthy made promises in January to permit conservative input on legislation, to fight to cut our spending, and to change how the House operates. After he received the votes to secure the Speaker's office, I met with him to express my support. I told him I wanted him to be successful because the American people needed him to be successful.

For a few months, we worked together to pass a parents’ bill of rights, a border security bill, and the Limit Save Grow Act, which would have required significant spending cuts and fiscal reforms in exchange for raising the debt limit. Those were encouraging times, as Republicans stood unified in doing the right thing, and doing what you elected us to do.

Yesterday, I went to the House floor to explain how Kevin McCarthy has since broken his word to the American people, and to make the case for his removal. Sadly, on the two biggest issues of the year, the debt limit battle in the Spring, and the government funding fight last weekend, Speaker McCarthy once again surrendered to Democrats and kept in place the reckless spending and the radical policies of the Biden agenda. And once again, more Democrats voted for the McCarthy compromise "deals" than Republicans.

The failures to do what he said he would do, led to the vote to remove him as Speaker of the House.

Make no mistake. Speaker McCarthy's allies, the special interests and lobbyists in Washington, are not happy. They invested heavily in Team McCarthy for years to have access to the most powerful Republican in Washington. So they, along with the deep-pocketed donors who funded the McCarthy-connected Super PACs, are already planning to support with millions of dollars a primary challenger against me next year.
