John,
Tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 5, I’ll be on the picket line in Cincinnati. The AFT is holding a day of solidarity with striking United Auto Workers members.
The UAW will have all-day picket lines at 40-plus locations in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Can you join us at one of these picket lines tomorrow? Click here for the full list of locations.
The hot labor summer has given way to a hot labor fall. Through amazing solidarity, Writers Guild of America members got an incredible contract. Let’s show the Big Three automakers that striking UAW members have the same support.
What the UAW workers are asking for is reasonable: restoring cost-of-living adjustments and fair pay, ending the tiered system of employment so that equal work receives equal pay, job security, and safety at work. These workers saved the auto industry in 2008-2010 with their concessions. Now that the industry is thriving and the CEOs are making big bucks, workers are simply asking to be treated fairly.
Let’s send a message to the Big Three by showing up to every picket line tomorrow. Let’s show them what solidarity looks like.
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
AFT President
