The Supreme Court is reconvening for a new term, and we can't trust its ability to decide monumental cases fairly. We need immediate reform.

Last July, the Court's conservative majority handed down a series of troubling decisions. They denied relief for student loan borrowers, gave the green light to businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ+ individuals, and thwarted efforts by educational institutions to foster diversity.

And that's not all. Over the summer, shocking ethical controversies came to light. Justice Alito enjoyed luxurious private jet trips bankrolled by wealthy benefactors. Justice Thomas accepted extravagant gifts, including numerous vacations and VIP tickets to high-profile events, all courtesy of his affluent supporters who have brought cases before the Supreme Court from which Thomas did not recuse himself. It's time for accountability.

Americans are demanding change. A recent poll by POLITICO and Morning Consult showed that 75% of voters believe Supreme Court justices should adhere to an ethical code. Shockingly, every federal judge in the country is bound by such a code—except for the nine individuals sitting on the highest court in the land.

We can't afford to wait. The Court is set to hear cases on critical issues, from gun rights for accused domestic abusers to the potential barring of former President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot. The decisions made will shape our nation for years to come, making the need for reform more urgent than ever.
