When Democrats flipped 41 seats to win back the House of Representatives in 2018, it was a sound rebuke of Donald Trump and Republicans.
But the truth is, our gains would have been even bigger if it weren't for gerrymandering. And despite now being in the minority, extreme Republicans from gerrymandered districts have still obstructed our investigations into misconduct by President Trump.
An Associated Press analysis found that Democrats could have won an additional 16 seats if not for the GOP's map manipulation. In North Carolina, Democrats won nearly 50 percent of the House vote share but only 23 percent of the seats. In Ohio, our party won 48 percent of the vote share but only 25 percent of the seats. It's appalling.
As Speaker, I've seen firsthand the harm gerrymandering can do. That's why I support the work of the National Democratic Redistricting PAC, which is fighting to end gerrymandering on every level and across the country. And it's why I'm asking you to join me in making a contribution today.

In 2018 and 2019, they were on the ground supporting Democrats and getting out the vote, and I have no doubt their work helped boost candidates up and down the ballot.
But the work is far from over. Republicans are fighting hard and spending millions to keep their majorities in state legislatures so they can manipulate the maps again in 2021 and send another batch of far-right extremists to Congress. But we can stop them by investing in the NDR PAC's multi-pronged strategy to end gerrymandering.
Friend, we've spent too much time letting Republicans get away with cheating. It's time to demand fairness in our elections.
