Hi John
A recent study by the National Partnership for Women & Families shows that over 36 million women of reproductive age, including 2.9 million with disabilities, live in states likely to enact abortion bans. Disabled people already face 11x the risk of death during pregnancy and are more likely to experience dangerous complications. In addition to this, there is a dire shortage of healthcare providers trained to manage pregnancies in disabled people.
Join us and stand in solidarity with disabled Americans. Everyone deserves access to quality reproductive care.
The Reproductive Health Care Accessibility Act has been introduced in Congress, aiming to remedy the existing issues present in reproductive health care for the disabled.
The Reproductive Health Care Accessibility Act will:
- Remove barriers to vital care for those with disabilities.
- Propose grants to train healthcare professionals in disability-specific reproductive needs.
- Boost disability representation in medical fields.
- Establish best practices in disability-focused sexual and reproductive health care.
All Americans deserve access to high quality and affordable reproductive care that’s specifically tailored to them and their needs.
Thank you,
Democratic Values
