Even House Republicans’ own witnesses see no legitimacy to this illegitimate impeachment inquiry.
John,
Ever since the Fox News-driven impeachment inquiry into President Biden got started, Republicans — by their own admission — have presented no evidence to support their ludicrous allegations.
Here’s a quick recap of what happened during last Thursday’s hearing:
- Rather than going after the target of this inquiry, Republicans zeroed in on Hunter Biden in a six-hour-long hearing that was allegation-heavy, but light on providing any proof of wrongdoing.
- Despite promising that the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability had “uncovered a mountain of evidence” against Biden, Republicans didn’t provide any of this evidence during the hearing.
- One of the four witnesses called on by Republicans — all of whom did not witness any alleged wrongdoing — even said, “The current record does not establish any crime, let alone an impeachable offense.”
As Republicans continue to push this sham impeachment, at Courier, we’ll remain at the forefront of cutting through the noise and conspiracy theories being pushed by Fox News and the right-wing disinformation machine. If you want to help us fight back, can you chip in today to power our honest, impactful journalism?
While some news outlets appropriately highlighted and emphasized the glaring fact that there’s no evidence to support this inquiry, for the average Fox News viewer, none of this would have been covered.
Instead, the GOP sought refuge in Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters as they attempted to distract their viewers with a text message that was revealed to have been taken out of context to look incriminating. As usual, a simple debunk of the text didn’t stop Fox from pushing this fabricated “evidence” to its viewers.
The GOP’s endgame is clear to us, John. This impeachment stunt was never about anything else other than to undermine President Biden as the 2024 election approaches and an attempt to sow enough division with outright lies and disinformation campaigns to help Donald Trump get back into the White House.
That makes our job at Courier even more critical. Our network of newsrooms are committed to fighting misinformation in the spaces where it thrives, holding bad actors accountable for their campaigns of deceit, and correcting the record.
