Dear John,
Today, our challengers campaign tried to air a transphobic TV ad, but it was taken down by the cable system. Read Danica's Campaign Manager's statement below:
Transphobic Woolf Ad Removed from TV after “Stand by Your Ad” Violation
“Today, the Friends of Danica Roem for Senate campaign learned that Republican nominee Bill Woolf was running a cable TV advertisement with a transphobic attack against Del. Danica Roem, the first out and seated trans state legislator in American history. The ad violated Virginia’s “Stand by Your Ad” law, which requires any political ads appearing on TV to include a disclosure statement spoken by the candidate.
Subsequently, the cable system removed the ad.
It was only last Thursday when The Washington Post reported [[link removed]] Woolf “had repeatedly lied and disobeyed orders, and received police pay at least twice while moonlighting out of state.” Now, just a few days later, we are learning Woolf is still willing to break the rules to advance his own agenda. The residents of Virginia’s 30th District deserve someone who puts constituents first by focusing on fixing roads and feeding kids, not someone who singles out and stigmatizes the very people they are running to serve.”
Statement from Alia Kapasi, Campaign Manager for Friends of Danica Roem for Senate
John, we cannot let hate win. Our challengers actions on and off the campaign trail prove that he cannot represent everyone in Senate District 30. Danica is running a campaign focused on her record, and the issues that unite us. We need your help to make sure that is the message voters see before they cast their ballot. Can we count on you to help Danica fight back?
