Hi John,

We already know that Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) works — it provides much-needed stability for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and has proven to be a cost-effective solution for addressing homelessness in California. So what now?

Join us remotely with a panel of experts on Thursday, October 26 from 12:30-2:00PM PT for Permanent Supportive Housing Costs and Resident Outcomes: What Have We Learned and Where Do We Go from Here? as we dive into recent research and discuss policy implications.

Registration deadline: Monday, October 23 at 5:00PM PT

👉 What Is Permanent Supportive Housing? PSH is a type of permanent housing that provides long-term rental subsidies and supportive services, such as healthcare, to individuals who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness and/or have disabilities, chronic medical conditions, and/or behavioral health conditions.

📖 This Brown Bag training will be guided by recent findings from UC Berkeley Terner Center for Housing and Innovation’s Permanent Supportive Housing as a Solution to Homelessness: The Critical Role of Long-Term Operating Subsidies. This brief examines the costs of operating PSH —including both the costs of managing the property and providing supportive services—and examines the implications of insufficient funding on properties, staff, and residents. It also shares findings from interviews and focus groups with staff and residents to understand resident outcomes and how sufficient funding impacts these.

📑 This research was informed by the experiences of NPH members who are PSH developers, owners, operators, and their staff and tenants.

Registration deadline: Monday, October 23 at 5:00PM PT

🗣️ Speakers include:

  • Natalie Bonnewit, Principal, Bonnewit Development Services, Consultant on behalf of NPH (Moderator)
  • Ann Goggins Gregory, Senior Vice President of Resident Services, MidPen Housing
  • Carolina Reid, Faculty Research Advisor, Terner Center for Housing Innovation, Donald Terner Distinguished Professor in Affordable Housing and Urban Policy, Department of City and Regional Planning, University of California, Berkeley

Let’s learn together the exciting policy implications and opportunities that lay ahead for PSH!

In Solidarity,

J.T. headshotJ.T. Harechmak,
