Hi there,
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: We must prioritize down-ballot races. 👏
Although we tend to hear more about the importance of federal elections from the media, state and local governments enact legislation that directly impacts the daily lives of millions of Americans. We must ensure that there are women represented in the rooms where those decisions are being made.
Her Bold Move is excited to endorse two more candidates running for local offices: Allison Spillman for the Albemarle County School Board At-Large Position and Deshundra Jefferson for Chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. Their elections are in a matter of WEEKS!
Both of these women are running for office in Virginia communities that need progressive female leadership. And they are BOTH up against extremist opponents. They need our help – can you rush $20.23 to support their campaigns?

Allison Spillman is a mom to five in all three levels of the Albemarle County Public School system (elementary, middle, and high school). While watching all of her children experience individual challenges/barriers at school, Allison has developed a passion for bettering the school system in her community.
She has spoken up for protecting LGBTQIA+ rights, fostering welcoming and inclusive school environments, supporting teachers and staff through collective bargaining and good wages and benefits, taking proactive measures to prioritize student mental health, and for gun safety policies that would keep her students safe.
Meanwhile, her opponent supports outing LGBTQIA+ students against their consent and opposes ACPS's anti-racist “Courageous Conversations” curriculum. Her opponent is Meg Scalia Bryce – the youngest daughter of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. She shares many of her late father’s extremist, right-wing views. Meg is attempting to brand herself as a moderate, using similar tactics to Glenn Youngkin in 2021…but her stances on the issues are extreme – and dangerous.
This school board race is very expensive – and will impact more Americans than some congressional races, given the size of her district. This race is important. Help us support Allison’s campaign by rushing $20.23 or more now →

If elected, Deshundra Jefferson will be the first ever Black woman – and person of color – to be chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.
Her Republican opponent has consistently opposed abortion access, serves on the board of a homophobic organization designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and regularly tweets admiration for Ron DeSantis. 🤮
Deshundra needs our help to get the resources necessary to fight back against her opponent’s homophobic, Islamophobic, and xenophobic agenda.
This county is a majority-minority county that has a history of being led by wealthy white people. Deshundra is focused on creating additional options for affordable housing, investing in her county’s students, and protecting her community’s most vulnerable residents. But off-year races typically see a very low turnout – which can be detrimental to Democrats. She needs our help to win:
Both of these women are running for critical positions that will impact their constituents’ day-to-day lives. They are both running against right-wing extremists who need to be stopped. By electing progressive women into local offices, we will ensure our students, communities, and environment can prosper. Can you help elect Deshundra and Allison by pitching in $20.23 or more right away? →
