Ted Cruz *really* loves government shutdowns.
Ted Cruz really loves government shutdowns and wants you to know, John.
That’s why we found it puzzling when his office released the following statement:👇
"No one wants a government shutdown..."
It’s very simple: if Ted didn’t want a government shutdown, he wouldn’t have voted for one.
Since his election to the Senate in 2012, the federal government has seen three shutdowns — and barely averted what would have been another catastrophic shutdown over the weekend.
In two of those shutdowns, Ted played a key role in both. Most infamously, in 2013, he decided to use the filibuster to bore his fellow senators by reading Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham in a failed attempt to repeal Obamacare — a decision that would have taken away the healthcare of millions had his stunt succeeded.
But it’s not like Ted would care. Despite the fact that military personnel and even his own Senate staffers would not have been paid during a shutdown, Ted still would have received his salary — all the while putting Texans last by holding the government hostage to force his unpopular, far-right policies onto the rest of us.
The need to Lose Cruz has never been more important.
We’re long overdue for a senator who will work to put Texas first. Ted’s popularity with Texans has declined to a new low, which gives us the powerful opportunity to part ways with our part-time senator. But how successful we are depends on the support from folks like you, John.
So, what do you say, will you pitch in $5 to power our movement to Lose Cruz?
