John,
You likely saw the headlines this past weekend about how we averted disaster in the final hours by passing a bill that would keep the government funded for 45 days.
Here’s the truth: We’re still facing disaster. Child care funding expired at midnight on September 30th, meaning three MILLION children could lose their child care. And we have another fight ahead of us to protect care come the budget fight in November.
Enough with the political games. We need to show our elected leaders that we won’t let our care be held hostage. Send a letter to call on your Congressmember to represent our needs and secure our care! [[link removed]]

Rather than passing legislation to support families, Congress is embroiled in bitter political games and pushing our country to the brink of government shutdown yet again.
A government shutdown would hit caregivers and care recipients across the country hard. It would interrupt necessary social support programs, including Head Start, and cease paychecks for furloughed workers at a time when families all over this country are already struggling because of the lack of action from Congress.
The truth is, there’s enough money to make sure we have the care when and where we need it — including paid leave for all, affordable child care, and accessible aging and disability care. It’s just a matter of making sure our Congress members prioritize it.
Sending a message to your Congressmember is an important step in making sure that care is at the top of the priority list when they vote on next year’s budget in a little over a month. John, can I count on you to take action now? [[link removed]]
This fight doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to reach out with ways that you can help.
With care,
Nicole Jorwic, Chief of Advocacy & Campaigns
