Honoring the Power of Women
Today is the first day of Women's History Month, commemorating the vital accomplishments and contributions of women. We're an organization that was founded and continues to be driven by women, and we are thrilled to add our voices to the celebration. Aliya Hassan, along with a team of volunteers, had the vision to form ACCESS in 1971 out of a storefront in Dearborn's south end to serve the Arab immigrant population. Today, the organization has grown to the largest Arab American community nonprofit in the nation, and countless women have shaped its trajectory along the way.

This year's 49th Annual Dinner uplifts the influential women who are making a change in their communities. Our Arab American of the Year, Dr. Anan Ameri, served as Founding Director of the Arab American National Museum and worked tirelessly to create a space to preserve Arab American stories. The Detroit Women's Chorus, our entertainment for the evening, empowers all women to find their voices musically and in support of human rights, acceptance, and social equality. Finally, we will recognize the steadfast women on our staff who commit themselves every day to building stronger communities.

We are proud to not only recognize Dr. Ameri's legacy but to celebrate a long and continuous line of inspiring leading women. Join us for an evening celebrating the women who've dedicated themselves to building a more equitable future for all.
