It’s always a gamble taking on a new mission, especially when the stakes are so high. I truly believe our democracy is on the line in the next election, and I’m going to do everything I can to fight for it.

I know you probably feel the same way.

So let me start by saying thank you to every single person who helped kick off Operation Saving Democracy. Because of you, we’re in a position to make a big impact next year.

But before we start putting plans into motion, I want to take a step back and hear from the people who got me here: your thoughts on the new mission, your insights on where we can make the biggest impact in 2024, or just your concerns about the next election. I want to hear it all — just hit reply on this email and let me know what’s on your mind.

There’s no formal survey here. This isn’t a scientific poll. But I can promise that my team and I will read every single message you write. Your feedback has helped shape our strategy in the past, and I know a whole lot of you have valuable input to provide.

Operation Saving Democracy is led by a team of high-ranking officials, from former ambassadors to retired generals, and I’d like to think that each and every single one got where they are because they know that leaders know how to listen. We know how to integrate new ideas into our approach, and we know our strategy is stronger for it.

We also know that we can only defeat Trumpism for good if we defeat them at the ballot box. We’re in the middle of building a plan to reach key voters in swing states next year — we’re going to mobilize Americans who see the extreme, authoritarian trend in the Republican Party for what it is: an existential threat to democracy.
