I wanted to share with you a note from someone I met on the campaign trail recently:

Dear Senator Gutierrez,

I’m so moved and inspired by your passion and authenticity as you reflect on the ways our communities go unheard and unserved and how brazen the current political leadership is.

In the six short years that I’ve called Texas home, I have come to love this state but also to see clearly that only bold vision will rebalance the power and resources that we all live with. I revel in hearing your rejection of incrementalism.

Here’s the deal, folks: Bipartisanship, yeah, that’s a nice word. But the fact is, we haven’t had real bipartisanship in Austin or in Washington in many many years.

The far right-wing extremism that is led by people like Ted Cruz, we need to change that. Ted Cruz’s policies are killing our kids, they’re choking our middle class. It’s high time we change it.

I know Cruz is beatable. But I need your help to send him packing. So please, pitch in a few bucks to help my campaign ensure it has the resources it needs to DEFEAT Ted Cruz once and for all.
