The Voting Rights Act was signed into law 54 years ago today.

Roy Wilkins, co-founder of The Leadership Conference, called it "one of the most effective pieces of civil rights legislation ever enacted" because it defended every person's right to vote -- regardless of race.

But in 2013, the Supreme Court gutted the law's core protections.

It's up to us to fight back.

Tell Congress to pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act to revive the heart of the VRA and stop racist barriers to the ballot box.
