Hi, John, it's Debbie. I just had a meeting with my campaign team, and I wanted to get a note out to you about where things stand right now. It’s important.

Just a few days ago, our campaign had its first public FEC reporting deadline. Everybody from Rick Scott to Mitch McConnell to political pundits will be looking to see what we’ve raised. They’ll use it to judge the strength of our campaign.

Unfortunately, we're already pacing $2,112 behind our daily $75,000 fundraising goal. I simply cannot fall short after the first big test of our campaign, so will you split $5 between my campaign and Kirsten Gillibrand's to help get us back on track so we can defeat Rick Scott?

We cannot afford to fall behind so early on in the election cycle. My opponent Rick Scott is one of the richest senators in the country, so he's more than capable of self-funding his campaign. In fact, he’s already poured millions into his campaign, and last time around, he spent $64 MILLION of his own fortune to buy this seat.

Look, John, I’ve already fought opponents like Rick Scott and beat them. I’m not afraid to face him or anybody who doesn’t put Florida first — especially as he continues to get rich while taking away our rights, abusing our government, and raising costs for families. No más. We’re going to do something about it. We’re going to win.

But winning will take staying ahead of our grassroots goals, especially when Rick Scott can cut himself a massive check at any moment. That’s why I’m asking, John: Please, help me make up this gap by splitting $5 or whatever you can between Kirsten Gillibrand and me to fight back against Rick Scott, win in Florida, and expand our Senate majority.
