In January, NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly asked Sec. Mike Pompeo important questions about what the Trump administration was doing in Ukraine. Pompeo erupted at Kelly and later lied about what happened.
His administration was caught in a lie, and Trump lashed out. On January 26, he questioned why NPR still exists over Twitter.
Two weeks later, as The New York Times reported, he proposed a federal budget “slashing federal funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting… to $0 by 2023.”
Trump is turning his personal grievances into attacks on journalism, education, and basic facts. In the age of massive conservative media conglomerates, public radio and PBS are the only sources of unbiased news in many parts of the country.
