‘DECADES OF FAILED LEADERSHIP IN WASHINGTON AND IN THE BOARDROOM HAVE LAID
WASTE TO PROUD MANUFACTURING COMMUNITIES’(Toledo Blade
<[link removed]>
) – “Ohioans that I speak with justifiably wish to see a course correction. But
instead of pumping the brakes, the Biden administration is doubling down on EVs
and driving our auto industry straight off a cliff. The editors pointed it out
themselves: “In less than 10 years two-thirds of the autos sold need to be
electric powered according to current government mandates.”

“The numbers show that the government-mandated shift to electric vehicles has
been a disaster, and the numbers have been significantly propped up by taxpayer
subsidies for EVs. But no amount of government underwriting will outweigh such
unsustainable losses over the long term. It is time for a reckoning in the auto
industry and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

‘IF WE’RE SUBSIDIZING ANYTHING, IT OUGHT TO BE THE WAGES OF OHIO WORKERS’ (
Daily Caller <[link removed]>
) -- Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance will introduce a piece of legislation
Thursday that is aimed at eliminating electric vehicle subsidies established
under the Biden administration as well as promoting domestic auto manufacturing.

President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022,
which allocated millions to combating climate change and other energy
provisions while additionally establishing a $7,500 tax credit for electric
vehicles. The bill, first obtained by the Daily Caller, will repeal a series of
EV tax credits created or expanded under the IRA such as the Clean Vehicle
credit and a credit for previously owned electric vehicles.

“Right now, the official policy of the Biden administration is to spend
billions of dollars on subsidies for electric vehicles made overseas,” Vance
told the Daily Caller. “If we’re subsidizing anything, it ought to be the wages
of Ohio workers – not the green energy daydreams that are offshoring their jobs
to China. We can secure a bright future for the American auto industry by
passing this legislation, giving workers a much-needed raise, and reversing the
misguided policies of the Biden administration.”

‘WE CAN SECURE A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR AMERICAN WORKERS BY PASSING THIS
LEGISLATION AND REVERSING THE MISGUIDED POLICIES OF THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’(
Breitbart
<[link removed]>
) -- Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) wants to offer much-needed wage hikes to American
auto workers by replacing President Joe Biden’s Electric Vehicle (EV) mandates
with tax credits for gas-powered cars made in the United States at high-wage
plants.

Vance’s “Drive American Act” would eliminate more than $100 billion in EV
subsidies from the Biden administration and replace them with the “America
First Vehicle Credit.”

‘A REGULATORY BODY THAT’S USING ITS POWER TO SILENCE AND IMMISERATE POLITICAL
RIVALS OF THE CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES’(Market Watch
<[link removed]>
) – Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio accused Gary Gensler, the nation’s
foremost financial regulator of using its enforcement powers to harass former
President Donald Trump.

Vance alleged that Gensler, chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission,
had hired partisan Democrats “who seem to have a vendetta against the former
president,” including enforcement division director Gurbir Grewal, the former
Democratic Attorney General of New York, who investigated the former president
in that capacity.

“It looks more and more like not an impartial regulatory body, protecting
investors and consumers, but a regulatory body that’s using its power to
silence and immiserate political rivals of the current president of the United
States,” Vance said.

‘REPUBLICANS EXPECT THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO GO ON THE OFFENSE. THE
REALIST RIGHT SHOULD TAKE THEIR CUES FROM VANCE.’(The American Conservative
<[link removed]>) – Why are
realists always on the defensive when it comes to foreign policy? Senator J.D.
Vance of Ohio, a Republican, recently gave a masterclass on going on the
offense, that should be a template for anyone trying to take control of the
narrative.

Immigration and foreign affairs are often not seen as connected, but we are
entering a total and perfect storm at a time when there are millions of
military-aged men on the southern border quite literally planting their own
flags on American soil. Republicans expect their elected representatives to go
on the offense. The realist right should take their cues from Vance.

‘A CHORUS OF GOP LAWMAKERS HAVE CALLED FOR OVERSIGHT ON FUNDS SENT TO
[UKRAINE]’(Fox News
<[link removed]>
) – Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, along with Reps. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Matt Gaetz,
R-Fla., said the letter – first obtained by Fox News Digital – comes following
a White House briefing last week when Sullivan stated that the Biden
administration had sent around $79.9 billion in aid to Ukraine since the war
started in February 2022.

However, a week earlier, the White House Office of Management and Budget gave
Vance’s office a chart showing at least $101 billion spent, with plans for
additional spending.

<[link removed]>

‘THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT THEIR MONEY HAS GONE TO’ (Breitbart
<[link removed]>
) – Nearly two dozen Republican senators and lawmakers on Thursday came out
against more funding for Ukraine, just as the country’s president arrived in
Washington, DC, to urge Congress to pass an additional $24 billion in aid that
would bring total U.S. support to Ukraine to at least $135 billion since its
war with Russia began.

Vance said in a post that after a Biden administration briefing on Wednesday,
it “became clear that America is being asked to fund an indefinite conflict
with unlimited resources.”

“Enough is enough,” he posted. “To these and future requests, my colleagues
and I say: NO.”

‘IT IS DIFFICULT TO ENVISION A BENIGN EXPLANATION FOR THIS LACK OF CLARITY’ (
Fox News
<[link removed]>
) – Ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington,
D.C., a group of 29 Republican lawmakers has vowed to oppose further funding
for Ukraine.

In a scathing letter to the White House, six senators and 23 House members
said they reject President Biden's request for $24 billion in additional
security, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The lawmakers railed
against the Biden administration for a lack of clarity over how the more than
$100 billion in funding Congress has already approved has been spent. And they
said Biden's demand for an increase in defense spending on the Ukraine Security
Assistance Initiative 15 times greater than what Congress authorized "makes a
mockery" of the legislative process.

‘AMERICANS SHOULD BE FREE TO LIVE THEIR LIVES – TO TRAVEL, TO WORK AND GO TO
SCHOOL – WITHOUT SUBJECTION TO NEEDLESS FORCE.’(Fox News
<[link removed]>
) – “We all know how this goes. It starts with mask mandates, then social
distancing, and then forced lockdowns to "slow the spread." None of it works,
but it costs us dearly. It robbed us of our basic freedoms and shattered our
national unity amid a crisis. We cannot let it happen again.

“Americans should be free to live their lives — to travel, to work and go to
school — without subjection to needless force. Let’s pass the Freedom to
Breathe Act and ensure that they can.

“COVID may have taken American lives, but it can never again take Americans’
freedom.”

‘DEMOCRATS SAY THEY’RE NOT GOING TO BRING BACK MASK MANDATES – WE’RE GOING TO
HOLD THEM TO THEIR WORD’(Cleveland.com
<[link removed]>
) – U.S. Sen. JD Vance announced Tuesday that he’ll introduce legislation
called the Freedom to Breathe Act that would block the federal government from
reimposing mask mandates to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Vance’s bill would prohibit any federal official, including the president,
from requiring masks on domestic air travel, public transit systems, or
primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools, and would prohibit air
carriers, transit authorities and educational institutions from refusing to
serve people who don’t wear masks.

“This legislation will ensure that no federal bureaucracy, no commercial
airline, and no public school can impose the misguided policies of the past,”
Vance continued. “Democrats say they’re not going to bring back mask mandates –
we’re going to hold them to their word.”

‘WE CANNOT ALLOW THE CCP, OR ANY HOSTILE NATION FOR THE MATTER, TO CONTINUE TO
INFILTRATE AND EXPLOIT OUR HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM’(Daily Caller
<[link removed]>
) – Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance and a group of GOP Senators introduced
legislation Wednesday that would aim to curb Communist Chinese Party influence
by targeting the millions of foreign dollars that go to American universities.

“The institutions tasked with educating America’s future leaders have been
repeatedly exposed for seeking money from our adversaries, especially the
Chinese Communist Party. We cannot allow the CCP, or any hostile nation for
that matter, to continue to infiltrate and exploit our higher education
system,” Vance told the Caller before introducing the bill. “The American
people deserve to see every single dollar of foreign donations going to U.S.
colleges and universities, and that’s exactly what this legislation would do.”

‘A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER’ (WFMJ
<[link removed]>
) – At a time when members of Congress from opposite sides of the political
aisle find it hard to agree on much, Ohio’s Democrat and Republican U.S.
senators are both criticizing Norfolk Southern Railroad’s program to reimburse
homeowners who experienced reduced property values due to the February 3rd
fiery derailment and chemical spill.

Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown is calling the program “another empty promise”,
and Republican J.D. Vance described the plan as “a complete and total disaster.”
