Klan War covers the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and its aim to obliterate the democratic power of newly emancipated Black Americans

friend,

Please join us in-person or virtually on Wednesday, Oct. 18, for a conversation with Fergus M. Bordewich about his new book, Klan War: Ulysses S. Grant and the Battle to Save Reconstruction.

In Klan War, Bordewich shines a light on a period in American history that many are unwilling to acknowledge: The rise of the Ku Klux Klan and its aim to obliterate the democratic power of newly emancipated Black Americans and their white allies, often by the most horrifying means imaginable.

The event at the Civil Rights Memorial Center (CRMC) in Montgomery, Alabama, is hosted by Lauren Blanding, CRMC manager. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. CDT. The conversation will be livestreamed from about 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CDT.
