Johh,
On Saturday, I was proud to vote yes on the stopgap funding bill, defeating dangerous spending cuts while averting a government shutdown
I know just how much is at stake for so many Americans.
From the very livelihoods of our armed forces and federal employees, to the critical programs our working families count on on a daily basis, disaster aid, and so much more; funding our government and serving the American people should have never been this difficult.
Once again, House Democrats had to come to the rescue and push back against an extremist agenda.
I am relieved that, for now, we have averted an unnecessary government shutdown. But I also know the fight isn't over. Before November 17th, our Congress will once again have to come together to fund our government.
While a last-minute Hail Mary worked this time, the process that's played out over the last few weeks brought us to the brink of a disaster. I hope that Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans learned the importance of bipartisanship.
Thank you,
Diana
