After Donald Trump was elected, my 8-year-old son came up to me and asked if I was going to be sent back to India.

I hugged him, trying to comfort him and told him “no.”

But, it hit me right then, that visceral feeling of insecurity. How many of us feel unsafe and scared, because of what we look like, how we sound, how much money we have, or who we love?

I’m Arati Kreibich, and I’m running for Congress to stop Trump’s assault on immigrants like me and our families.
