MSNBC’s Chris Hayes reports: Democrats recently won two big special
elections -- winning control of the Pennsylvania State House by 1 seat and
flipping a Republican stronghold to get within 1 seat of a majority in the
New Hampshire State House.
Even better, Democrats WILDLY outperformed their expected vote share -- by
13 points in PA and 18 points in NH.
So far this year, there have been 30 special elections in places with
different demographic makeup. Pro-democracy candidates defeated far-right
extremists in an overwhelming 80% of these races, outperforming expected
margins by an average of 11 points.
The PCCC has already endorsed over 150 state and local candidates this
year -- including people running in some of the most competitive races for
legislature and school board in 2024. Now, we are working on training
these candidates (who often have few resources) and preparing more
endorsements.

"This is not an isolated incident. In fact, it’s part of what continues to
be one of the most surprising and reliable political trends of the last
few years… There is a strong case to be made that those results tell us
way more about the state of our democracy and the political strength of
the pro-democracy forces in this country than all of today’s other
political headlines put together," Chris Hayes reports.
"The threat to democracy in the person of Donald Trump, the faction he
represents, the forces that he’s channeling, is real and it is terrifying…
But when you stand in the pro-democracy coalition, remember, you are in
the majority."
