Act Now to Save the Southern Resident Orca
For Southern Resident orcas, the mouth of the Columbia River between the Oregon and Washington coasts remains their favorite place to hunt for Chinook salmon. But the massive hydroelectric dams along the Columbia and Snake Rivers are killing salmon before they can reach the coast. Today, only about 1 percent of Snake River salmon make it home to spawn, which means the critically endangered orcas are going hungry. Demand that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers take action to save the Southern Resident orca by removing the lower Snake River dams and replacing them with carbon-free alternatives.
