John,
Through our State Bridges Program, Sister District directs critical resources to incredible community-based organizations—often led by people of color—building long-term political power in states and fostering civic engagement through year-round organizing.
Recently, we checked in with our partners to see what they’ve been able to accomplish with the funds we were able to raise this year. Today, I’d love to share an update from Pennsylvania-based partners: PA Stands Up and PA United.
But if you’re short on time and you’re ready to invest in organizers in Pennsylvania laying the groundwork for 2024, consider making a monthly gift of any amount today. 100% of your contribution will be split between Pennsylvania Stands Up and Pennsylvania United.

Pennsylvania Stands Up organizes—across race, place, and generation—to build a Pennsylvania that works for everyone. This year, they’ve been hard at work building their electoral bench by training dozens of first-time candidates.
Funds raised through Sister District funded the entire first year of their brand-new organizing center in Northeastern Pennsylvania! The team is thrilled to have the resources to open an office and finally have a home base.
For the remainder of the year, they’ll be deep canvassing, holding tabling sessions, recruiting and training members to lobby their legislators, connecting with voters, and hosting political and strategic education sessions.

Pennsylvania United is working to connect communities of color with white working-class communities across Western Pennsylvania around important issues like raising the minimum wage and criminal justice reform to build a multi-racial, working-class coalition for long-term change.
This year, PA United knocked on more than 24,000 doors for their issues campaigns and nearly 60,000 doors to turn out voters. They’re focused on learning about the issues that the people in their communities care most about, engaging them as members, and ensuring they become action-takers and voters every year!
Sister District’s fundraising helped fund a 3-day organizing training in which Pennsylvania United trained 27 staff, members, and other community leaders around building powerful values-based campaigns!
With a critical state Supreme Court election coming up in a few weeks, they’re busy educating and turning out voters—while continuing to build Western Pennsylvania’s permanent field infrastructure to be able to knock 1 million doors in 2024.
PA Stands Up and PA United are counting on our support to keep this work going, win upcoming elections, and build enduring progressive power in the state. Will you make a monthly gift to help our partners expand their organizing efforts?
