Missouri Net News [link removed] Welcoming Exiles & Other Wanderers Cohort
Led by Rev. Claire Clyburn, lead pastor of First UMC Graham in North Carolina, this cohort is a six-week small group process for clergy who wish to become more trauma-informed pastoral leaders. Specifically, the cohort will delve into how local churches can be equipped to welcome people who are processing grief, trauma and loss through disaffiliation or other church hurt. The short-term cohort grew out of a small group process developed at FUMC Graham for the people received from area disaffiliating congregations. From that experience (15 newcomers, all of whom connected to the local church), Rev. Clyburn developed a fuller course on trauma-informed pastoral leadership. She has now led three cohorts of pastors in Western NC and NC conferences.
Topics include:
Previewing a small-group process for use in local churches designed for those experiencing church hurt
Psychological safety
Systems anxiety
Trauma-informed pastoral ministry
This group will gather virtually for six consecutive Wednesdays at 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. beginning October 18. [link removed] You will want to register now.
