*AG Nessel Announces Appointment of New Macomb County Public Administrator*

*LANSING???*Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel today announced the recent appointment of?Megan Cashen [ [link removed] ] to?serve as a?public administrator for Macomb County.??

"I am confident Megan will serve Macomb County well?in her new appointment as County Administrator,? said Nessel. ?Megan brings to public service an?extensive experience in probate matters and I?m grateful for her commitment to our Michigan residents.??

Cashen is a Michigan native and longtime resident of Shelby Township. She attended Michigan State University where she obtained a BA in History in 2007 and Michigan State University College of Law where she obtained a JD in 2010. Cashen is a third-generation attorney in Macomb County and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience garnered through more than a decade of practice focused nearly exclusively on probate matters. In her free time, Cashen is a passionate fan of MSU sports, enjoys bar trivia, and loves spending time with her dog, Teddy. Cashen was sworn in on September 22nd.?

?I look forward to working with County Public Administrator Cashen,? said State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant. ?Our office is fortunate to have a talented and passionate pool of attorneys that serve as county public administrators, and I have every confidence that Ms. Cashen will be an outstanding addition to that roster.??

County public administrators have powers and duties primarily related to intestate decedent estates where there are apparently no known heirs, including managing the determination, collection, liquidation, and/or distribution of any assets in the estate.? Attorneys that serve in this capacity often also have private practice responsibilities that are separate and unrelated to their appointment as county public administrator.????
