John, before you read this email, I need your grassroots support to secure my seat and make crucial progressive change for the working families of Durham. Will you donate just a few dollars right now to power my people-centered campaign? >>
John, let me tell you a story about what it’s like to fight for working families – while being part of one myself.
Just two weeks ago, I had a childcare emergency and had to bring my daughter, Aaliyah, to our County Commission work session. And to be honest, I was pretty nervous.
As proud as I am to be her mom, that doesn’t make it easy to be a working parent. Our systems are not designed for working folks to juggle parenting and service.
But as childcare costs rise, options are declining. Some working parents face a daily scramble for babysitters. Some are forced to leave the workforce altogether. It’s not fair.
That’s why I’m running a people-powered re-election campaign, dedicated to delivering for working families. But to win – for all of us – I need your consistent grassroots support to power this movement.
John, I know I can be a strong leader AND be a loving mother to my daughter Aaliyah. But I can’t do it alone, nor do I want to. And if I don't kickstart my work now, I won’t be able to be the leader working families deserve. So I’m asking: Can you please donate $27 to help me win re-election and continue my fight for all the working families of Durham? >>
With love and support,
Nida Allam
