** "Clean" energy brought to you by American oil & gas workers.

Cowboy State Daily ([link removed]) ([link removed]) (10/1/23) reports: "The Harris Ranch Tesla Supercharger station is an impressive beast. With 98 charging bays, the facility in Coalinga, California, is the largest charging station in the world. In 2017, Tesla CEO said that all Superchargers in the automaker’s network were being converted to solar. 'Over time, almost all will disconnect from the electricity grid,' Musk posted on X, formally known as Twitter. Superchargers charge vehicles up to the 80% sweet spot in as little as 20 minutes, but to provide that kind of power for nearly 100 bays takes something solar can’t provide — diesel generators. Investigative journalist Edward Niedermeyer discovered that the station was powered by diesel generators hidden behind a
Shell station. Reporters at SF Gate tried to find out how much of the station's electricity was from the generators, but couldn’t get a response from Tesla. The station isn’t connected to any dedicated solar farms, which means that absent the diesel generators, the station is powered by California’s grid. According to the U.S. Energy and Information Administration, in June 2023, natural gas supplied nearly 5,000 megawatt hours of electricity in California, whereas non-hydroelectric renewables supplied about 7,250 megawatt hours."

** "Next time you see an electric car or a charging station, keep in mind the emissions involved in producing the battery and the electricity used to keep it running. Outward appearances can be deceiving.."

Who is running the show over there?
** Epoch Times ([link removed])
(9/29/23) reports: "Go in search of official documentation naming who is charge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and those records will prove to be elusive. In fact, court filings show that at least until recently the commission itself claimed could not locate those records. This peculiar turn of events is currently at issue in ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation now before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. FERC has until Oct. 2 to respond to a discovery motion that cuts to heart of who is actually running the commission. The litigation in question initially probed into the relationship between FERC and climate activists in the Biden White House. But in the past few months, the records requests have focused more attention on the influence anti-energy advocacy groups have been exerting on the commissioners...Kenny Stein, a policy analyst with the Institute for Energy Research (IER), a Washington-based nonprofit group that supports free
market energy policies, detected 'new avenues' within the updated regulations advanced under Glick’s watch that would spur 'frivolous opposition to development from anti-pipeline extremists, as well as creating new opportunities for litigation to slow or stop pipeline construction.' Although FERC ultimately abandoned its pursuit of new rules that would likely benefit litigious environmental groups, the IER has obtained records through multiple FOIA requests and lawsuits highlighting the influence outside advocacy groups appear to be exercising within FERC at the expense of the public interest. Allison Clements, a commissioner appointed in December 2020, has maintained a steady chain of communication with her former employers at the National Resources Defense Council, a group headquartered in New York with close ties to China’s government, and the Energy Foundation, a San Francisco-based left-leaning grant maker (which also has a robust China operation). So, who is in charge now?"
Climate change is the golden goose for Big Green, Inc. bureaucrats who are more concerned with appropriations than results.

When they're not whacking whales, they're hacking eagles.
** Daily Skeptic ([link removed])
(10/1/23) reports: "Further devastating evidence of the toll that onshore wind turbines take on local eagle populations has emerged in Tasmania. The local Wedge-tailed eagle is thought to be down to just 1,000 individuals, but over the last 12 years at least 270 birds have been killed or injured in the vicinity of wind farms. According to a recent paper in Australian Field Ornithology, a further 49 vulnerable White-bellied sea eagles have also been killed in this period. The scale of depredation is shocking but it could be much worse than reported. According to author Gregory Pullen, information about eagle deaths is not readily available, “nor readily made available”. His calculations arise from a number of primary sources including annual reports. He suggests that unrecorded casualties are higher since most are recorded anecdotally and are not the result of systematic survey. The Tasmanian sub-species of the Wedge-tailed eagle is listed as endangered under both federal and state
threatened species legislation. Large birds of prey such as eagles are at particular risk from giant wind turbine blades revolving at speed since they rely on air currents for sustained flight. "
