The game will feature landmarks, businesses, and icons that are unique to our community. We are excited to share the design of the top of the Arlingtonopoly inside this Arlingtonian edition. BUSINESS ADVOCACY Arlington Chamber Supports Permanent Outdoor Dining Framework On July 15, the Arlington County Board adopted amendments to the Zoning Ordinance that established regulations for outdoor cafes in public rights-of-way and on private property. This was a welcome development for our restaurant members, as they will finally have the means to apply for the permanent retention of their Temporary Outdoor Seating Areas (TOSAs) that were granted due to pandemic-era temporary rules. This process will allow TOSA operators to prepare for their long-term future with outdoor dining as a revenue source, keeping many restaurants alive during the pandemic. The adopted regulations include a two-month gap between the expiration of temporary rules and the adoption of the new permitting process. The Chamber expressed concern about this length of transition period to the County Board. The County has reiterated that TOSAs will still be allowed to operate in the interim provided applicants work in good faith. The Chamber sent detailed information about the process via email and will continue to be engaged with the County to ensure that the transition process to permanent outdoor dining is seamless for our restaurants.
