Hi John,
I’m so blessed to run for president, and I’m thankful for everyone who has joined me on this journey. I wanted to take a moment to tell you my story and then ask you one very important question.
I know in my heart that America is the land of opportunity, not oppression. I have so many examples of this in my life, from my mama to my grandfather and even looking in the mirror.
My grandfather was born in a small town in South Carolina in 1921. He had to leave school to pick cotton and never learned to read or write. But he lived long enough to watch his grandson pick out a seat in Congress. He had a stubborn faith in God, faith in himself, and faith in what America would be. He believed then what some doubt now: In the goodness of America.
I was born into a military family. My father, a Vietnam veteran, and my mom divorced when I was seven. My mother, brother, and I moved in with my grandparents in North Charleston, South Carolina, and shared a two-bedroom, 700-square-foot rental house.
My mother worked a lot of 16-hour days as a nurse’s aide to put food on our table and keep a roof over our heads. She taught me there is dignity in all work. It’s why I know if you are able-bodied, you work! Period. Mama said we could be victims or victors — and she chose to be victorious.

When I was a boy, I spent a lot of time being disillusioned and angry and didn’t apply myself in school. That started to change at age 15 when I met a mentor who taught me to take responsibility for myself.
In high school, I thought playing football was my ticket to success. But the summer before my senior year, I fell asleep while driving to practice and crashed my mother’s car. An injury sidelined me for much of my senior season in high school and led me to accept a small football scholarship at a faith-based college, where I became a Christian. Following Jesus became the central turning point of my life.
I found my true identity in the words of Ephesians 3:20 — in “Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us.”
I grew up in a single-parent household, mired in poverty. Yet with God’s grace, my family’s love, the guidance of some very important mentors, and the opportunity America gives us all, I earned an education, started a business, and today serve in the United States Senate.
In the Senate, we’ve been able to get a lot of good work done with previous administrations. I was one of the chief authors of the tax cuts in the Jobs Act of 2017, where we returned to the average American family more than $4,000. President Trump also signed my Opportunity Zones legislation which has been the strongest, most powerful force for fighting poverty.
But the Left doesn’t want you to know my story and my success. They want you to believe America is an evil, declining country. I’m the candidate they fear the most because the truth of my life disproves their lies!

I’m running for president to share the truth that America is the greatest country on God’s green earth and you can go as far as you’re willing to work. It’s time we restore faith in God, faith in each other, and faith in America. We need to create new opportunities for everyone, stand strong on our conservative values, and protect the America we all love.
As I have this whole campaign - I’m continuing to focus on the race I am running. My biggest priority is getting in front of voters, sharing my story and my vision for America, and earning their support. I’ve been in Iowa and New Hampshire countless times in recent months because while fighting is good, winning is better and the way to win is by meeting these voters face to face, talking about issues that matter to them and how we can help.
I will never stop fighting for America and I will never stop fighting for you because every person and every family deserves the opportunity to pursue an American Dream far greater than mine.
Will you help me keep fighting? My presidential campaign relies on the generosity of supporters like you. If you donate $10 or more to cover shipping, I would like to give you a free 2-pack of Tim Scott for America buttons to say thank you!

We’ve lost seven out of the last eight national elections, and 2022 was a disaster – it’s time Republicans unite around a message that restores hope for our country, creates opportunities, and protects this nation we all know and love. If we want to defeat Joe Biden and the radical Left, we have to win, and we also have to persuade. I believe I can bring the power of persuasion to not only win over Democrats and independents so that we can win elections but also get our conservative agenda passed.
So that’s my story, John. I have faith that America can do for anyone what she has done for me, and that’s why I will never back down from this fight.
Thank you,
|
Tim Scott
P.S. I wouldn’t be here if it were not for my faith and the support of my loved ones and friends like you. It is the honor of my life to be fighting for our nation’s future.

Tim has taken a commanding lead after his debate performance in Simi Valley, California! Here’s what people are saying about Tim’s dominant debate performance:
|
"WINNERS:
Tim Scott: The South Carolina senator was much more forceful than in the first debate, delivering a body-blow attack line against rival Vivek Ramaswamy by accusing the entrepreneur of being “in business with the Chinese Communist Party.” He also got in one of the first applause lines of the night when asked about President Biden joining striking autoworkers on the picket line this week."
|
"WINNERS:
Scott later singled out Ramaswamy for saying during the first debate he was "the only person on the stage who isn’t bought and paid for," alleging he was "in business" with the Chinese Community Party and the same people who funded Hunter Biden."
Trace Gallagher: "The response from the crowd was Tim Scott brought his energy. He brought his game tonight."
Garrett Haake: "We did see a much more aggressive Scott challenging Ramaswamy, challenging some of these other candidates to try to create opportunities for himself to better introduce himself."
Wall Street Journal: "Well, they had their moments. Tim Scott finally cut through the disorderly debate with remarks on race and America’s promise."
Larry Kudlow: "Tim Scott I have to give him a lot of credit because he did this riff on Blacks, African Americans, somehow surviving through slavery and then went on to say that the Great Society of LBJ and all the democratic presidents since then have made the black situation worse, not better. Breaking up the black family... I just have to give him credit on that."
Sean Hannity: "He's an inspiring speaker."
Lanhee Chen: "Tim Scott stood out...I think people will see him as someone who wanted to come out and make some points and I think he did."
