On Saturday, September 30, union workers at MOM's Organic Market in College Park rallied to protest the company’s unlawful discrimination against union members. Workers state that management has tried to dissuade other workers from joining the union by withholding raises and benefits from union workers and unlawfully disciplining and firing workers for supporting the union. ATU Local 689 opens contract negotiations with National Express Transit

Last week representatives of ATU Local 689 opened contract negotiations with National Express Transit, which provides paratransit services for WMATA passengers throughout the region. The current contract which will cover 263 employees in Maryland and Virginia expires on December 31.
“Local 689 is ready to engage with National Express Transit in a thorough and good-faith process to improve conditions for workers at the bargaining table,” Local 689's President Raymond Jackson said in a statement. “Our members provide a critical public service each and every day and they deserve a contract that’s reflective of their dedication."
