For decades, this on-again, off-again political football of a policy has undermined health and human rights around the globe. And it exacerbates population pressures in those countries least equipped to deal with them, by cutting off access to family planning when clinics are forced to close their doors due to the loss of U.S. aid. President Biden rescinded the policy in his first days in office. We want to see it scrapped, forever, so that no future Republican president may impose such a cruel policy, ever again.

By barring any health care provider that accepts U.S. aid from even discussing abortion, let alone providing safe, legal abortion, the Global Gag Rule worsens health outcomes for vulnerable women around the world. That’s why the number one priority of the #Fight4HER campaign is to permanently end the Global Gag Rule by passing the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights (HER) Act.
