Good morning,
The United States Supreme Court, the highest court in the country, returns from its summer recess today.
The Court has played a role in some of the most important—and sometimes devastating—moments for reproductive rights in the country's history. For the last 30 years, the Center for Reproductive Rights has been involved in every major case on abortion argued in that Court, and our workload in the United States has expanded exponentially in the past year. Are you ready to help us keep fighting?
The Supreme Court isn't the only place we're prepared to fight: Every day, we must continue to use all legal levers at every level to fight against abortion bans and ensure everyone everywhere can exercise their right to reproductive autonomy. Your support today makes sure we're prepared to seek justice in any courtroom—from the U.S. to Kenya and everywhere in between.
Here are just a few of the U.S. cases you can help us prepare for right now:
- In Texas we're representing two OB-GYNs and 13 women who suffered severe pregnancy complications but were denied abortions due to the state's extreme abortion bans. The case is moving to the Texas Supreme Court at the end of November.
- We are suing the state of Idaho where the state's ambiguous abortion ban has put pregnant people in harm's way, and left providers unable to give care even to patients in dire situations because the law threatens them with harsh criminal, financial and professional penalties.
- We filed a case in Tennessee State Court to defend the right to access life-saving abortion care and for physicians' ability to provide this care without fear of legal jeopardy.
At the Center, we know our way around a courtroom, and we have the track record to prove it. Will you step up today and make a gift to ensure we're ready to fight—regardless of the case or the court?
Thank you for fighting by our side.
