Help Me Shutdown the Freedom Caucus

“THIS IS WAR!!”… You read that correctly… “WAR!!”. Want to get a sneak peek into how the GOP is treating its constituents? Look no further than the fundraising e-mail my opponent and current incumbent for Idaho’s 1st district, Russ Fulcher below. I’ll make this easy for you, he’s trying to confuse, distract, and deflect away from the actions HIS FREEDOM CAUCUS colleagues are taking against the interest of hardworking Americans all across this country.

Take a moment and have a good read of the e-mail below and hold on tight because by the end of it, your head will be spinning. 

I almost don’t know where to begin with this. 

Every cycle, thousands of these types of emails go out to voters who are trying to make ends meet, who are too busy taking care of their families, balancing two or three jobs, and helping their community, to follow every action our government takes. Often times, candidates like Fulcher are sending out the exact same language all across the country. How does this address the real issues that I’m hearing on the trail from Idahoans? It doesn’t. When you’re reading these types of e-mails, buyer beware. Fulcher is not writing this, a well-paid, coastal political consultant is, and believe me they DO NOT CARE about the words they’re writing. 

I’ve traveled over 15,000 miles in the last few months in places where the only responses to Russ Fulcher’s congressional record is: Who is he? 

Exactly. 

His words are as empty as his actions, ESPECIALLY in a time when he and his colleagues have already threatened to shut down the government, oust a leader from their own party, and put the rest of the country on a dangerous edge. Fulcher can share as much as he wants about how the Biden team is tearing America apart, but from where I’m sitting, shutting the government down is NOT a solution, it’s dangerous. This is timely too, as of last night he is the only member of the Idaho delegation in Washington who voted NAY for the stop-gap measure to keep the government open and our services provided for Idahoans who desperately depend on them. 

If he and his Freedom Caucus colleagues had succeeded last night, it would have meant that our Veterans won’t receive their benefits, our airports won’t be staffed appropriately so we can travel to see our loved ones during the holidays, it means cancer research will come to a screeching halt, and that our military members won’t receive their paychecks. 

Fulcher may not be worried about the conversation those folks are having at the dinner table at night, but I absolutely am. He’s not even in line with the balance of his caucus, he’s voting against Americans and it’s our job to hold him accountable. 

I need your help to do that. Between driving 15,000 miles over the last few months to meet Idahoans wherever they are across the state, to holding those in power accountable for their actions, to spreading our platform of support for strength the middle-class in Idaho, protecting the rights of women across the country to make decisions right-sized for their healthcare needs without government overreach, and providing healthcare and services for those who rely on government programs, campaigns can be expensive.
