Amazing refugee innovations!

Dear John,

Despite, and sometimes because of, the enormous hardships and trauma they face, refugees are amazing innovators – developing products that have become family favourites, as well as pushing the boundaries of technology.

This month, we’re celebrating these amazing innovations - getting lessons in robotics from the most unlikely of places and finding out the origins of one of our favourite condiments.

These stories show that – in a world where life can change in a matter of moments – strength, resilience and creativity can flourish with a little bit of kindness. Thank you for supporting our work, and showing compassion and unity for refugees rebuilding their lives.

Amazing innovations

No challenge is too big for Rania and Raghad

With International Women’s Day right around the corner, we caught up with some amazing young women learning surprising skills in their refugee camp. Sisters Rania and Raghad, who fled conflict in Syria, have started building and programming robots.

Hot sauce with a cool story

More than four decades ago, David Tran was one of thousands of refugees who fled Vietnam. He created Sriracha sauce to help rebuild his life – even naming the company Huy Fong Foods after the boat that carried him to safety!

Here are five of our favourite stories that will warm you up and melt your heart on even the coldest of winter days. From sharing meals to playing music together, it just goes to show that a little kindness can go a long way.

In the month of February, when much of the world celebrates love and kindness, we’re really grateful to be supported by people like you. Thanks for showing kindness to refugees in desperate situations all around the world.

P.S. Why not carry out a small act of kindness and tell other people about our work on social media.
