Williams Weekly
Dear Texans,
It was another busy week in Washington, D.C. working on the issues that matter most to you. Read below for an update on my work fighting for the values of TX-25 and be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter to stay connected.
House Committee on Small Business Hearing
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the SBA took on an outsized role in helping America’s economy through loan programs that allowed many businesses to keep their doors open throughout all the uncertainty. However, the OIG estimates $200,000,000,000 taxpayer dollars were given out to bad actors, which accounts for almost 20% of all pandemic lending. The House Committee on Small Business held a hearing to hear from witnesses on new ways we can recover stolen funds, bring these bad actors to justice, and prevent and detect fraud moving forward. Watch my opening statement here.
Subcommittee on Small Business Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chain Hearing
During the subcommittee hearing I discussed the consequences of companies being forced to spend time and hard-earned money on never-ending regulations and compliance costs, and how it impacts their ability to do their actual job. Watch my line of questioning here.
Financial Services Committee Hearing
It’s no secret that the SEC has turned into a climate activist group, waging war on traditional energies like fossil-fuels and going against their core duties. If they succeed, compliance costs will go through the roof, forcing companies to hire more lawyers and compliance officers rather than individuals who will help grow the business and bring in revenue. We must put an end to the over-regulations that create more burdens for the companies they supervise. Watch my line of questioning here.
National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association
I met with leaders of the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association in my D.C. office to discuss the importance of securing the materials we need to build and expand American infrastructure. As your Representative, I am fighting each day to cut the excessive government regulations that are hurting businesses.
Friday Night Lights!
I was honored to kick off this week’s big game between the Graham High School Steers and the Mineral Wells High School Rams with a coin flip. It's always great to catch up with the community during Friday night football.
In the News
I joined The Bottom Line with Sean Duffy to discuss the top issues facing our nation. From the invasion at our southern border to Biden’s overbearing push for unaffordable green energy, I am committed to holding government officials accountable and putting America first.
We know that 1 in 5 COVID loans were fraudulent, resulting in 200 billion in missing taxpayer dollars. I joined NewsNation to talk about my work as Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business to recoup this stolen money for the American people.
Standing to Secure Our Nation
I voted against the CR which did not include funding to secure our southern border. We must restore law and order and secure our nation at all costs. We cannot continue to ignore that our nation is under invasion at our southern border. Americans are paying the price.
In God we trust,
Roger Williams
