Great news: Republicans holding the government hostage caved yesterday, and allowed the government to stay open until November 17th.

Together, we stopped a last-minute push by Wall Street-funded politicians to create a closed-door commission to dismantle our Social Security system and slash nearly $2 trillion from Medicaid.

But the fight isn’t over. More Republicans voted to create the Social Security-cutting commission than ultimately voted to keep the government open. And if we don’t keep up the pressure, in six weeks we’ll be right back where we were, on the precipice of disaster. Kevin McCarthy’s Budget Chair Jodey Arrington will spend the next six weeks whipping his cruel, anti-Social Security budget.¹
