We're just shy of hitting our fundraising goal, so I told my team I'd ask personally: John, can you contribute $5, or any amount, right now to help power this campaign for bold, progressive change?
One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to speak directly with supporters like you.
In fact, one of the main reasons I first decided to run for elected office was because I kept having conversations with my friends, family members, and neighbors about the way the political status quo had left our communities behind. I just HAD to step up, and from the jump– I've never forgotten that our power stems from the people like you who helped me get here.
While many other members of Congress might spend the hours before a fundraising deadline calling up fossil fuel executives or asking corporate PACs for a check, I'd like to do something different. I want to talk to the supporters who are making it possible to run a 100% people-powered campaign and say thank you.
Here's my promise to you, John: if we hit our goal at — or before — midnight, I'll give a few grassroots donors a call. So, will you make a donation of $5 to help hit our end-of-quarter fundraising goal? Then, if you get a call from an unknown number, pick up — because it might be me!
