Here are just a few of the accomplishments that your support has made possible during the past year:
- Winning at the Polls: In the 2022 midterms, we endorsed and supported progressive candidates, with an impressive 62% success rate. We also played a key role in defending Senator Raphael Warnock's seat in Georgia; and helped to elect Janet Protasiewicz to the Wisconsin Supreme Court – shifting the balance of power on that court out of far-right hands for the first time in 15 years! Now, we’re making strategic investments in key elections across the country for the 2023 elections and continuing to lay the groundwork for the upcoming presidential election in 2024.
- Restoring Integrity to the Federal Judiciary: People For has led the campaign for the White House to nominate and Senate to confirm fair-minded, highly qualified and diverse federal judges. Our regular and direct personal contact with Senate leadership offices and mobilization of our members to contact their senators have been driving forces contributing to the confirmation of 143 judges to date. Now, we are ramping up pressure for confirmations to accelerate in the remaining months of President Biden’s term.
- Protecting the Right to Vote: We have been at the forefront of the fight for voting rights, both at the federal and state levels. Our work in Minnesota led to the signing of the Democracy for the People Act, a significant step towards comprehensive democracy reform. We also continued our advocacy in Congress to advance critical legislation that would strengthen and protect our democracy.
- Combating Censorship: Our "Grandparents For Truth" campaign has mobilized hundreds across the country to push back against book banning and censorship efforts. We are proud to be a central part of the national movement to protect the freedom to learn from right-wing extremists, including our role in pressuring the College Board to reverse their decision to water down curriculum in their AP African American Studies course as demanded by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
- Holding MAGA Republicans Accountable: We are actively working to ensure accountability for those who attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Your contributions enable us to be a central player in the pro-accountability campaign as we continue to strategize and mobilize in advance of the upcoming trials for Trump’s multiple felony cases, set to begin early next year.
- Monitoring and Exposing the Far Right: Our Right Wing Watch project is a vital resource for exposing and countering dangerous far-right rhetoric and actions. It continues to receive national recognition for its important work and is frequently cited as a source in prominent media outlets, including by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow who told her viewers that Right Wing Watch is “a fire-alarm system for the whole country” and a “great public service.”
