Every day, each one of us makes a decision.
In the face of the chaos and conflict in Washington, and up against a Republican Party that is willfully inflicting harm on the people, we could let ourselves grow weary with worry.
Or we could refuse to give in.
There’s no team I’d rather be on than this A-Team, because every day, you reject the luxury of cynicism. This is a team of doers. Of disruptors. Of table-shakers. Of believers. Of activists. Of agitators. Of people who walk the walk.
By refusing to give in, we won an improbable congressional primary victory five years ago this month, lifted by a diverse movement of first-time voters, first-time-in-a-long-time voters, and everyone who affirmed that change could not wait.
By refusing to give in, we have crafted policies that protect the most marginalized, from removing barriers to abortion care, to supporting families facing eviction. We have helped push for real change, like the new tax on millionaires that is funding free universal school meals for all students in Massachusetts. And we have supported and helped to elect progressive champions across the country.
By refusing to give in, we will advance our vision for a truly just America, where abortion care is readily available, voting is easier than ordering a cup of coffee, and student debt does not exist.
So no matter how tempting it may be to give in to cynicism, we instead choose to work. We stay united, vigilant, and focused against a Republican Party that is anti-worker, anti-woman, and anti-democratic. We march side by side, and we choose hope.
