It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
The Situation: The federal government appears to be heading toward a shutdown after midnight tonight. It is a very fluid situation, and things are changing by the hour. I will keep working with my colleagues toward a temporary bill to keep offices open and give us time to pass the rest of our appropriations bills.
In our ongoing commitment to support America’s senior citizens, I'm proud to introduce the Hardworking Seniors Act alongside Rep. Nicole Malliotakis. This legislation allows seniors enrolled in Medicare Part A to keep making contributions to their health savings accounts, ensuring they have access to the best healthcare options and savings available. It's our way of recognizing the lifelong contributions our seniors have made and providing them with the financial flexibility they deserve as they work into their golden years.
I'm also thrilled to partner with my colleague, Congressman Greg Pence, to introduce the Protecting Rural Seniors Access to Care Act. This vital legislation aims to preserve seniors' access to top-notch healthcare in rural areas, addressing concerns surrounding the recent CMS rule on minimum staffing standards for long-term care facilities. The proposed rule could limit access to care and potentially lead to nursing home closures, particularly in rural areas. We're dedicated to ensuring that our rural seniors continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve without the risks posed by understaffing.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
